Description

A huge, highly territorial monkey inhabiting an island off of the Field of Bone's northwestern coast. Has a 20 second stun with a 12 second recast time, and an aggro radius half the size of the island he roams. Flees at 15%. Drops Sands of the Mystics which is used in the Enchanter epic quest. Approach with care.

The Tangrin can be soloed or easily duo'd. With Boltran's Agacerie (conflicting reports on if Allure can land, there might be a level variation or just unlucky RNG) use Trooper Taer or alternatively Crusader Bodli as your pet, and don't forget to haste them. They are extremely magic resistant so plan accordingly. Once the Tangrin is slowed with Forlorn Deeds, the charmed guard will dominate the fight, finishing it with more than 75% HP. However, if charm breaks mid-fight, you'll be summoned by The Tangrin and you must quickly land a Rapture or Leatherfoot Raider Skullcap out before you get hit with Monkey Stun or it could mean instant death.

At 60, a cleric can keep the Tangrin almost completely stunlocked with Enforced Reverence, Stun Command, and Sound of Force. (some research & confirmation on The Tangrin's MR would be appreciated!)

The building on The Tangrin's island does not block line of sight. So don't sit there. Sit on the shore across his island.

Alternate strategy - did this on 02/26/2026: Bind in Warsliks Woods at the Field of Bone zoneline and preload Dictate (boltran can do but dictate is unresistible fixed duration). Go back in field of bone and run to the cabilis area and find trooper Taer. Rapture/tash/charm/haste/weaponize/-mr him, sit him and zone him in cabilis. Go back to FOB and Rapture/tash him (in case rapture blurs) and bolt to tangrin island to get a headstart. He has about sow pot runspeed so make sure you use one or he'll gain on you with just jboots but you might make it anyway with a good headstart. Run to the cliff close to Tangrin's island and wait for Taer, when he shows up rapture and charm him. Lev down to tangrin island and stick Taer on tangrin then tash/root/slow tangrin and gate back to WW. Then zone back into FOB and sprint where you engaged them, they'll still be fighting and tangrin will be at around 40% HP so just wait for tangrin to be at around 10% hp and drop dictate on Taer and let him finish it. Loot and Gate before dictate breaks. At first I tried to aggro train tangrin on Taer but I got stunned from like 150 range and barely capped out alive, dangerous idea. Then I invis'ed and ran Taer over tangrin but tangrin won't aggro Taer. Being a guard, Taer is super aggressive though so when you gate him while he fights tangrin he'll immediately reaggro tangrin and keep the fight going even if you cleared aggro with gate. -Ditzee
